Mauli Ola Sports Complex

The Mauli Ola Sports Complex is the hub for all that we do and will accomplish.

In 2009, the Hawaii Softball Foundation began conversations with the Department of Land and Natural Resources about renovating the ball fields in the Sand Island State Recreational Area (SISRA). Together we structured  a public/private partnership that would maximize the benefits for all parties involved. In 2022, after 13 years of collaborating with a variety of individuals, agencies, organizations, and businesses, we broke ground on what will become a new era in community sports facilities for the State of Hawaii. Over the next 5-10 years we will continue the renovation process which will extend beyond the softball fields, making the entire Sand Island State Recreational Area a gathering place for all of Hawaii’s people to enjoy.

The Hawaii Softball Foundation is eternally grateful and sends our sincerest thank you to everyone who has helped in past, to those who are helping today, and to those who will be a part of it in the near and distant future. Without each and every one of you, this could not be possible. Thank you.

Ocean reefSand Island Hawaii, internment camp during WWII

History

Many know the Sand Island area as Honolulu’s industrial area housing the Wastewater Treatment plant and our states main freight transportation with Matson and Pasha. It also is home to the US Coast Guard station and many of Hawaii’s local business as a part of the Sand Island Businessman’s Association (SIBA). What people don’t realize is the history prior to what they see in the present day. History is important and just like in sports, yesterday teaches us how to live in the present and how to prepare for the future. Experience as they say is the absolute best teacher.
